| Le 06 juillet 2002Résultats de la Course Contre le Cancer La course annuelle à la mémoire de Bill Marshal, un de nos fondateurs, s'est déroulée dans l'euphorie avec toutes les composantes pour rendre cet événement des plus intéressants. Le vent était avec nous avec ses vingt nœuds, le soleil était resplendissant et les concurrents nombreux et généreux. Plus de 300.00$ ont été récoltés des participants et plusieurs se sont joint à nous pour le punch d'après course et notre souper annuel. Nous les en remercions tous. Vu l'enregistrement tardif des coureurs nous avons pris les handicaps fournis via la perche tel que soumis et nous avons alloué les temps de départ en fonction d'eux. Nous remercions les coureurs pour leur franchise. L'arrivée s'est fait en trois pelotons serrés précédés du gagnant par presque deux minutes; le premier groupe à trois minutes d'intervalle, la deuxième grappe à six minutes d'intervalle, suivis par les quatre derniers, serrant de très près. Un certain cafouillage à la bouée CAD aurait pu voir les résultas bien différemment pour certains. Results of the Race Against Cancer (English version by Jennifer Welch "L'Odyssée") The annual race in memory of Bill Marshal, one of our founders, unfolded with all the makings of an extremely interesting event. The 20-knot wind was with us, the sun was shining brightly, and the participants numerous and generous. More than $ 300 was collected from participants; and many joined us for the after-race punch and our annual supper. Thank you to everyone who took part in the day. Due to some late registrations, we took racers at their word when assigning handicaps. Start times were based on this data, so we thank racers for their honesty. Contestants finished in three close groups, preceded by the winner who lead by almost two minutes. The first group saw five racers finish within a three-minute span, the second group of seven racers finished within a six-minute span, and the last four racers followed very closely. A bit of a mix-up at the buoy CAD created an unexpected result for certain racers. Clément Monet |

| Félicitations aux organisateurs (ENGLISH VERSION by Jennifer Welch "L'Odyssée")
Le commodore est fier de féliciter les organisateurs de la fête du méchoui et de la course contre le cancer à la mémoire de Bill Marshall pour leur performance hors-pair. Le Contre-commodore Derek Sadko et son fils Jonathan ont organisé une superbe course appréciée de tous. Ginette et Rémi Gauthier, pour leur part, ont organisé un souper sans pareil où tous les invités se sont sentis comblés grâce aux bons office des nombreux bénévoles qui y ont mis la main à la pâte.
Mentionnons Hélène Pilon qui agissait comme caissière, Hughette Le Blanc qui a fourni les décorations et qui s'occupait un peu partout, Bernard LeBlanc qui agissait comme serveur, bus-boy et cuisinier, Thierry Trano comme chef dépeceur, Elisabeth et Kalman Koltay comme chefs saladiers avec Nicole Tanguay, Gisèle et René Séguin qui s'affairaient au service, Jean et Chantale Simoneau qui était à toutes les sauces et surtout celle au chocolat pour les profiteroles, Céline Gauthier qui était indispensable au service et Gilles, le maestro disc-jockey, qui nous a fourni une musique délicieuse et variée toute la soirée, pendant que Pierre Tanguay, l'instigateur de tout ce boucan, se frottait les mains d'aise en appréciation du bon travail de chacun.
J'en oublie, car nombreux sont ceux qui ont spontanément donné un coup de main pour le transport des tables et des chaise et qui ont contribué au nettoyage des lieux. Dure besogne qui a été faite dans la joie et l'harmonie.
Félicitation à tous et n'oublions pas les besogneux qui nous ont procuré tous ces prix de présence qu'ils ont récoltés auprès de leur corporation : Jean Simoneau auprès de Xerox, Derek Sadko auprès de Pfizer, Gerry Hickey auprès de Transpac, Sylvain Fortin auprès de Provigo-Loblaws, Jean Auger auprès de Bombardier, et Jean-Claude Hamelin auprès de nos fournisseurs. Judith MacSweyn qui ne pouvait venir, étant à l'étranger, nous a fait parvenir un magnifique parapluie qui a servi de prix à un concurrent de la course.
Bravo à tous et espérons que ce succès n'effraiera pas la relève qui tentera de surpasser ce rendement l'an prochain.
Congratulations to the Organizers
The Commodore is proud to congratulate the organizers of the Pig Roast Party and the Bill Marshal Race Against Cancer for their outstanding performance. The Rear-commodore, Derek Sadko, and his son organized a superb race that was savoured by each sailor. With the assistance of many volunteers, who leant their expertise and hard work, Ginette and Rémi Gauthier organized a unique supper that delighted guests.
I would also like to thank the following: Hélène Pilon, for her role as cashier Hughette Le Blanc, who provided the decorations and did a little bit of everything Bernard Le Blanc, who worked as server, bus-boy, and cook Thierry Trano, who carved the meat Elisabeth and Kalman Koltay, who prepared the salad Nicole Tanguay, and Gisèle and René Séguin, who served the meal Jean and Chantale Simoneau who took care of all the sauces (We especially enjoyed the chocolate sauce for the profiteroles!) Céline Gauthier who was indispensable as a server Gilles, the Master Disc-Jockey, who provided us with the night's tantalizing tunes Throughout the evening, Pierre Tanguay, the instigator of all this commotion, beamed in appreciation of everyone's hard work. I cannot forget the many people who spontaneously pitched in to move furniture and to help with the clean up. Many hands made light of hard work. Thanks are also extended to those who obtained donations for door prizes from their employers: Jean Simoneau of Xerox, Derek Sadko of Pfizer, Gerry Hickey of Transpac, Sylvain Fortin of Provigo-Loblaws, Jean Auger of Bombardier and Jean-Claud Hamelin who solicited our suppliers. Judith MacSweyn, who was not able to come, sent us a great umbrella to use as a prize for a competitor in the race. Bravo to all.
